Rosie Rose of Dunwoody
September 2003 to August 23, 2018

Rosie Rose, Age 15 (105 in People Years), an AKC Registered Bearded Collie rescued from a breeder, died peacefully on August 23, 2018. She died humanely and was surrounded by friends and family.

She was the lifetime companion of Mom, Ann Rose Woody, and was a sweet gentle pup.  She was preceded in death by Dad Wayne Woody, brother Elvis, and furry friends Damon, Buddy,  Max, Casey, Bailey and Ace . Rosie  is survived by his Mom Ann, the Rose family, the Woody family, Cousin Paul, and the Usual Suspects (you know who you are). She is also survived by other 4-legged friends:  boyfriend Remy, little annoying brother Jasper, Mignon, Jackpot, Odie, Kona, and the Mollies.

Rosie had a reputation as a tart and male dogs would happily flock to her. She was even known to have given some a second wind. She was Queen of the household and had a way of ruling the room. She spent her career lounging around the house and posing for visitors. She would be miffed if anyone got on HER couch at the Beach. For some unknown reason, her beard was always dirty.  Just like her brother Elvis, she greeted people with a little jump and hop, and she perfected the “Beardie Bounce” dance routine.

In her later years, she enjoyed sleeping and socializing with human friends, as she could always be found underfoot.  She maintained her warm spirit and zest for life until she fell ill with old dog Vestibular Disease. You might want to click on the link to educate yourself about the condition, as its onset can be rapid.

Services will be private and she will be interred near Elvis at the Lake with appropriate adornment.  Bette Midler’s “The Rose” will be played and “The Most Interesting Man in the World” will attend via cardboard cutout. Donations can be made in Rosie’s name to the Atlanta Homeless Pets Foundation.

Below are some remembrances from family and friends:

“Rosie was such a love and friend for you. I’m so sorry she is gone”… Bette

“Rosie is the sweetest doggie”… Vicki

“So sorry for your loss. Pets are family”… Michael

“She was such a sweet spirit”… John

“We get so attached to our pets that their passing is heartbreaking”… Demetrius

“Just remember the goofy times with her”… Charlie

“Rosie was a princess. She loved your parties”… Yolanda

“She was a wonderful friend to you and Elvis, as well as the rest of us”… Florrie

I guess August is the Dog Days, as my Elvis also died in August 2016. The Rose/Woody households will now be a bit less cheery without the pitter patter of little dog feet.

Carry on and hug your fur babies.
